Thinking about colleges and careers at North Kirkwood Middle School

Presenter: Tyann Cherry
Place: North Kirkwood Middle School
Handouts

I was invited to speak at North Kirkwood Middle School as part of their Career Fair. My presentation will be two sessions for 25-30 8th grade students in each session. I was asked to provide information regarding what kids should know about college, transcripts, things that can hamper admission and what students can do now and throughout high school to prepare for higher education. Since the presentation is geared toward kids I incorporated a variety of activities and some additional follow up assignments that they can work on (see handouts). The goal was to personalize the experience for each participant as they consider their educational plans.
